The Executive Secretariat of ALBA-TCP together with the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity among Peoples and the Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research took the initiative to hold a meeting of Think Tanks and Social Research Centers, whose resulting document outlined some ideas under an ambitious Plan to Save the Planet, which today we update and present for discussion and implementation. We insist, before this new and definitive crossroads for humanity, that we present these ideas in order to discuss them and generate a minimum agenda of concrete actions and alternatives to the dominant system, so that among peoples, movements and political organizations and independent States, we can face together the main challenges of humanity and the planet. A world agenda because we are convinced that there are no individual solutions to the crises we face; a new World Social Alternative that moves the majorities from the Common Sentiment.
Imperialist capitalism, in this new epoch of hyper-aggression and inevitable decline, has shown itself to be a system of death and destruction, with unpredictable consequences for nature, wars, genocides, hunger, inequality and misery. It is, however, a system with powerful foundations and the capability of mutation, which, despite become weaker, will not disappear on its own. It is precisely in these times when people’s unity becomes vital if we want to save the planet and humanity. This document is an invitation to consolidate that indispensable unity and to the constructive debate that will lead us to generate the necessary strength to live and triumph with dignity.
